WHOLESALE ROSE NURSERIES
Rose varieties offered by wholesale growers are sold both as bare root plants and potted specimens for both landscaping uses and on selling through retail outlets. Varieties offered will depend on the grower with some overseas breeders operating through selected growers.
New release roses are also offered by some growers, these include both imported varieties as well as Australian bred releases.
Nearly all new releases are first trialled in the National Rose Trial Garden in South Australia. Here roses are trialed before release to determine suitability for growing in Australian conditions. Each year awards are given and this is an invaluable resource for retailers and home gardeners alike. This process also encourages Australian Rose breeders to develop new and uniques varieties.
These trials have also been at the forefront of determining how roses bred in the UK and Europe perform in Australian conditions, this is often very different particularly in terms of general vigour and growth habit.
New release varieties are available each year. Favourite varieties are available, some dating back 50 years and more.
