Brass Band Rose

A Floribunda Hybrid Rose: makes A Stunning Choice for Your Garden

The Brass Band rose is a Floribunda hybrid, known for its apricot-colored flowers that bloom in vibrant clusters.

This repeat-flowering, vigorous rose variety offers stunning visual appeal, making it a popular choice among gardeners. Its cupped flowers feature a unique brassy yellow reverse, adding an extra layer of beauty. Additionally, the Brass Band rose has a delightful fragrance that enhances its charm.

This rose variety typically grows to a height of around 1 to 1.4 meters and has a naturally bushy habit, making it an ideal addition to borders or mass plantings.

Bred by Jack Christensen in the 1990s, the Brass Band rose is often considered one of the best Floribunda types, prized for its long-lasting blooms as cut flowers and its exceptional disease resistance. With its strong reverse petal color, it also works well as a feature rose in gardens.

Care

  1. Best planted in winter to spring as a bare rooted plant.
  2. Dig the whole twice the with of the root ball.
  3. Add some well rotted compost and cow manure to the soil and mix in well.
  4. Plant the rose at the same height as indicated on the plant.
  5. Backfill.
  6. Water in well well with a liquid seaweed fertiliser.
  7. Mulch around the plant to maintain a cool moist root run.
  8. Water during dry spell through the first summer.

Zones 5-9: These zones, which include regions like parts of California, Texas, and the Pacific Northwest, provide the ideal climate for this rose. The Brass Band rose prefers mild winters and moderate summer heat.

Zone 10: In warmer climates like southern Florida or southern California, it may need some protection from extreme heat, especially in the hottest summer months, but it can still thrive.

UK
In the United Kingdom, the Brass Band rose can be successfully grown in most regions, particularly in:

Hardiness Zones 7-9: The majority of the UK falls within these zones, where roses like Brass Band can thrive. The mild winters and cool summers create an ideal environment for healthy growth.
