Many Rosarians have been using Seaweed Fertilizer for Roses for many years with outstanding results. The benefits of using seaweed are many and although it is not a high impact plant food it does provide many nutrients and minerals in a readily accessible form.

Seaweed fertilizers also make a great soil conditioner, improving the soils ability to hold water and increasing beneficial microbial activity. It free of weeds and diseases and is available both as liquid and powdered forms.

Using Seaweed Fertilizer on roses

In terms of roses seaweed is used in the following ways

  • When planting water roses in with seaweed fertilizer, it helps promote healthy root growth. You can use Seamungus fertilizer at this time
  • Water with seaweed fertilizer early in spring and again in late summer
  • Foliar feed (spray) every two weeks to improve general strength and vigor.

Seaweed fertilizer is said to improve the production of water shoots. These are the vigorous new shoots that help regenerate roses.

Supplement your seaweed fertilizer with a specialist rose food applied immediately after pruning, in December and in early February. Always water well before and after fertilizing.
