Perhaps the best of all of the pink flowering rugosa roses, Rosa Fru Dagmar Hastrup has clear pink flowers followed by brilliant red rose hips.
What makes this such a good variety is its natural compact habit. The flowers are open and with a good fragrance Fru Dagmar Hastrup will flower from late spring though to the end of summer.
The foliage is a deep green and heavily textured, in late summer it turns to an attractive red before fading to yellow before winter.
Landscaping uses
This is a rose that that has been in cultivation for over 100 years. It is regarded as hardy once established and can be used in the garden border or planted as a hedging plant.
The flowers attract bees and butterflies to the garden and its thorny nature makes it a good barrier plant.

Like all rugosa type roses, Fru Dagmar Hastrup requires a sunny position and a well drained soil. Reaching around 1 metre in height with a similar spread this is a very easy care rose.
As its natural growth habit is tidy and compact it requires little to no regular pruning.
