WHOLESALE DYPSIS LUTESCENS NURSERIES
Dypsis lutescens is most commonly sold as the Golden Cane Palm in Australia, however also known as the Areca Palm and Butterfly Palm.
Regarded as one of the more versatile palm trees it grows well both indoors and outdoors and is a clump forming palm tree.
Wholesalers usually offer Golden Cane Palms as small clumps, although they are available as single stems as well.
Originally from Madagascar they grow as an understory shrub so they do grow well in filtered shade, this is what makes them good indoor trees.
A major feature is the golden stems, the arching green foliage and the fact that they do not have spikes.
Excellent around a pool to create a tropical effect and with dense growth they can be used as a screening plant.
Indoors they will require watering, although outdoors thay are regarded as drought tolerant.Over time they can reach 12m in height, however this is in the more tropical climates. In temperate areas such as Sydney, when grown outdoors they usually get to around 5m in height.
Indoors in containers often smaller.
Wholesalers offer Golden cane palms in a number of sizes, from around 1m up to 2m and them advanced clumps for immediate specimen planting.
