Wholesale Nurseries selling Tropical and Sub Tropical Wholesale Plant Nurseries for Darwin, Far North Queensland and Queensland.
Tropical and exotic plants including Palm Trees, foliage plants, ferns cycads and tropical flowering plants. Tropical plants for full sun and shade.
Tropical Plants are naturally popular in the Northern Areas of Australia, however many tropical and sub tropical plants can also be grown in cooler climates.
Some just cope well with cooler climates and others require a micro climate to be created or perhaps are suitable for growing indoors.
The lush look of tropical and sub tropical foliage plants is increasingly popular with landscapers in all areas of Australia
Tropical plants for a rainforest look
Crotons and cordylines are two of the best planes for underplanting in tropical and subtropical areas. Both grow well in the filtered light and both provide a riot of colors.
Alocasia with their fantastic foliage are another, and some are more cold hardy than others. And their close relations, Colocasia are another with great foliage, many hybrids are available.
Philodendron are a group of climbing plants again more for the foliage than the flowers
The Zamia cycads are an excellent addition, wonderful green exotic foliage and if you live in a frost free zone they will take a little cold
The most diverse group would be the bromeliads, and these are grown for both foliage and flowers, look for Neoregalia, Vreisia, Guzmania and others
The Travelers palm ‘Ravanala madagascarensis’ looks a little like cross between a banana plant and a strelitzia ( to which it is closely related), not cold hardy but certainly an exotic plant
Ferns are an excellent addition, many cope well with cooler conditions and foliage varies greatly from the broad birdsnest fern to the fine maidenhair fern
Crotons are bright tropical foliage plants, low growing to around 1-2m, but no they do not like cold conditions
The dragon Tree – Draceana, you can use this as an indoor plant or outdoors, perhaps not the tropical look of some of the others but certainly exotic
Anthurium, grown both for foliage and flowers.
Heleconias are another diverse group, some with spectacular flows and a little more cold tolerant than other.
Hedychium, Canna Lilies
Ligularia
Large rounded heart shaped leaves and loving a wet soil, filtered light and pretty flowers that resemble those of a daisy, they do not like to dry out at all
