WHOLESALE HIBISCUS NURSERIES

With wonderful colourful flowers Hibiscus are sometimes seen as a little old fashioned, however with the demand for colourful flowers they are making a resurgence as popular landscaping plants. Many wholesale hibiscus varieties are suited to cold cooler climates and grow much further to the south than thought.

Often seen as being a tropical plant Hibiscus varieties offered by wholesale growers in Australia are actually varied. They have been a popular plant in Queensland for many years, however equally as long the cold tolerant varieties have been grown as far south as Melbourne.’

Sometimes called ‘Hawian Hibiscus’, Hibiscus rosa-sinensis is actually from China. Heavily hybridized over many years you will find that some cultivars are better in warmer climates, others do well in cooler areas as well.

Generally offered as medium to large potted specimens, they make excellent feature plants in many landscaping schemes. Ask your wholesaler or grower about conditions for each variety of this popular landscaping plant.

Hibiscus Varieties include:

  • Hibiscus syriacus – Also known as the ‘Rose od Sharon’
  • Hibiscus rosa sinensis – The so called ‘Tropical varieties’, however many cultivars will grow in cooler climates
  • Hibiscus moscheutos – Also known as the ‘Swamp Mallow’
  • Hibiscus heterophyllus – Native species known as the ‘Native Rosella’
