WHOLESALE ASPIDISTRA NURSERIES
An old fashioned indoor plant that is making a comeback is the Aspidistra. It is not a plant that is offered widely by wholesale growers however it is available from selected nurseries.
Aspidistra are widely used as a foliage plant, this one is regarded as bulletproof, it is almost impossible to kill by neglect, and with a little care performs very well in the most difficult of situations.
Aspidistra plants and species such as Aspidistra elatior (Cast Iron Plant) and the cultivar Aspidistra ‘Shooting Stars’ are widely used as indoor plants as well as foliage plants.
A variegated form Aspidistra elatior Variegata, is also available, however not as widely grown.
Growing to around .5m Aspidistra are an evergreen perennial with attractive ‘lance shaped’ foliage that grow well indoors and are excellent for a shaded part of the garden .
Used widely indoors in the Victorian era Aspidistra are a very useful foliage plant both indoors and out.
