If you are looking at creating a tropical look in the garden, or maybe a foliage plant that grows well indoors in good filtered light, Philodendron Xanadu could be the one for you.
In the garden it requires a subtropical climate to thrive, and it grows well as an understory plant, beneath taller trees and shrubs where its receives strong filtered light. It does not grow well in really deep shade.
Indoors, it likes warmth, good filtered light and a good quality potting soil. It is a compact growing plant and provides masses of lush green foliage.
The distinctive undulations on the leaves develop as the plant matures and this adds extra interest and texture both as an indoor plant and in the garden
Care and Growing Conditions
A good plant for growing in containers in warmer climates it can also be used as a garden plant.
- Soil
Use a free draining high quality potting mix - Light
Good strong filtered light is best, direct hot sun can cause leaf burn. Deep shade will cause lax open growth. - Water
Only water when the soil has started to dry, overwatering can cause root problems. - Mulch
Outdoors use a good organic mulch that will break down and provide humus. Indoors use pebbles, these look good and also help prevent Fungus Gnats. - Fertiliser
Indoors use a slow release fertiliser every 12 months. Outdoors, add some aged cow manure each time you renew the mulch.
