With a natural cone shaped growth habit, Pinus glauca ‘Albertiana Conica’ is a slow growing tree that is a cultivar of the ‘White Spruce’.
An excellent small feature plant with the new foliage being a bright lime green before darkening to a mid green. This is one of the most widely used conifers in the landscaping industry.
A natural dense growth habit makes this a good specimen tree in a container or in a rock garden. Also suited to growing on balconies and patios or in commercial landscaping applications where a low maintenance plant is required.
Care and Growing Conditions.
Being both drought and frost tolerant this is also a long lived tree. It grows well in a range of soil types as long as they are well drained.
One planted and watered in, most pines will only require a little additional water through the first summer. A little much around the plant for the first few years can aid with growth.
Not suited to sub tropical or tropical climates as it does not cope well with humidity.
Pruning
Generally not required as the natural growth habit is neat and conical..
Propagation
Propagation is usually from seed.
