In cooler protected areas some of the Himalayan bamboos will be great, in warmer areas with full sun, these cooler climate bamboos may struggle. 1. White Bamboo (Dendrocalamus Minor Amoenus ) – This is a very ornamental clumping bamboo with attractive culms.

2.  Thai Silk Bamboo (Bambusa Nana)  The foliage is soft and ferny on this very upright bamboo.

3.  Slender Weavers Bamboo – (Bambusa Textilis variation Gracilis) excellent for screening in narrow areas.

4.  Khasia Bamboo (Drepanostachyum Khasianum) We would describe this one as atelier version of slender weavers.

5.  China Gold Bamboo (Bambusa Utuldoides Viridii Vittata) excellent pale yellow canes with an open growth habit.

6.  Java Black Bamboo (Gigantochloa Atroviolacea ) is its colour you are after then the near black culms of Java Black makes it happen.

7.  Buddha Belly Bamboo (bambusa vulgaris wamin striated) – Fascinating bulging culms mid green with darker green striation.
