One of the best low growing Banksia varieties, Banksia spinulosa ‘Honey Pots’ grows well in the garden, in containers and is a great addition to a Rock Garden with an Australian Native plant theme.
I will reach around 1 metre in height over time with a similar spread. Beautiful golden flowers with some red in those trademark Banksia flower hooks make this an attractive addition to a range of landscaping applications.
It is best grown in a sunny position in a well drained soil and it will grow well in coastal conditions.
Regarded as both frost and drought tolerant it requires very little care other than an application of a low phospahte fertiliser each spring.
Mulching around the plant will help to suppress weeds, and some light pruning will keep this great litte plant in shape.
Pruning
Prune after flowering to maintain a smaller and denser growing plant.
