WHOLESALE ISOPOGEN NURSERIES
Isopogon are a group of mainly low growing perennial shrubs. Very useful as a ground cover plant and with many cultivars being offered by wholesaler growers with improved flower forms they are a colourful and hardy plants.
All species are frost and drought tolerant and all flower from spring though to summer. They work well in a rock garden, grown in a container or in the general garden border.
Low maintenance makes them popular with landscapers, a light prune after flowering is all that is generally needed.
Isopogan ‘Candy Cones’
One named cultivar offered by a number of wholesale growers is Isopogan ‘Candy Cones’.
With candy pink drumstick like flowers is one os the best cultivars. It spreads to form a dense bushy shrub around 1m tall with a similar width. Excellent in a sunny position in a well drained soil.
- I. anemonifolius – Interesting plant that has both low growing and prostrate forms although this may be due to the area where id grows. Yellow flowers in spring.
- I. latifolius – Shrubby plant to around 2m in height with pink flowers.
- I. cuneatus – A more upright form with a bushy habit if tip pruned from an early age.
