The White Mallee – Landscaping Uses
Eucalyptus dumosa is commonly called the White Mallee, growing to only 6m with many trunks it has creamy white flowers during the flowering period.
Although not widely used in landscaping Eucalyptus dumosa does have some potential. It is drought tolerant and low growing so is suited to smaller gardens or as a backdrop to, other native plants.
Suited to roadside plantings it could also be used as a small shade tree, providing protection to other plants or a seated area at specific times of the day.
It is a tree that is high in essential oils and this is often extracted for use.
How To Grow Eucalyptus dumosa
This is a fairly shallow rooted tree it will need support when planted until its root system is established.
Good drainage is essential, and as the root system will seek out moisture it should be planted a good distance from sewer connections and drainage lines
As this is a tree that will grow and flower in harsh conditions it is an important flowering plant for bees and sought after tree by apiarists.
