WHOLESALE DORYANTHES NURSERIES
Doryanthes excelsa is commonly known as the Gymea Lily, Flame Lily and sometimes the Spear Lily.
A spectacular plant when in full flower Doryanthes excelsa also is a useful foliage plant. Tall upright dagger like foliage make it a good accent plant in the garden or when grown in a container.
When in flower it is very attractive to nectar seeking birds, wonderful for attracting honey eaters to the garden.
Although it will grow in a range of climates from Brisbane to Melbourne and across to Perth, it does require good sun to flower. It is frost tolerant as a plant, however the flower stalks are not.
Takes up to 8 years to flower from a young plant, longer from seed.
