Agapanthus Snowball is a dwarf hybrid agapanthus which will grow to height of around 30cm. Evergreen, like ‘most’ agapanthus and with numerous nice white ball shaped flowers from spring through to summer. Excellent as a low border but growing equally well in pots or containers.
Growing conditions
Plant at 25cm centres, for an instant effect, or 60cm for a more economical coverage, over time they will form a tight clump and can easily be divided if required.
The Snowball agapanthus requires very little care other than deadheading spent flower stems. Good drainage is important to prevent root rot.
Usually available as tubestock, in trays or as bare rooted plants. These are said to be a sterile cultivar so they should not be invasive like some species.
Care
Once planted this is a very low care plant.
Mulch around plants to maintain a cool root run. Fertiliser is generally not required, however in very poor soil a yearly application of a general purpose slow release fertiliser will be beneficial.
General maintenance consist of dividing established clumps as they become overcrowded. Every 5 – 6 years is sufficient.
