What you choose will depend on the application. An edge between a garden bed and a lawn or path, will be different to that between a garden bed and a driveway where heavy traffic may be an issue. And of course, its all a matter of what looks good in your garden.

- Corten Steel.
It has a a natural rusted weathered look, it is flexible, it is easy to install (simple DIY) and its long lasting. You can also get it varies heights. You can set it high to form a barrier or raised edge. Or set it low so that its almost invisible. - Brick
It looks good, you can install it yourself, it can make a wide border between garden and lawn and correctly laid you can drive a car over it. - Concrete.
You can buy precast sections, or have it poured on site. Again, very low maintenance if properly installed. - Blocks and Rocks
An edge made of precast block, bluestone or similar can work well and be low maintenance. - A ‘Dug Garden Edge’
