Helleborus x ericsmithii

  • Pinterest

A wonderful hellebore Helleborus ericsmithii is grown for the attractive marbled or mottled foliage. Pretty pink flowers in winter and a great evergreen ground cover plant for those dryish shaded positions . Reaching a height of around 30 – 40 cm Helleborus x ericsmithii is a hybrid of two other hellebore hybrids. we think this is the best Hellebore for foliage that is available in Australia.

Care

Look for a humus rich well drained soil that receives some sun, but is protected from hot afternoon sun. The foliage is lovely so you could grow this hellebore in a container as a specimen. Old foliage can be removed in autumn as with all hellebores, this allows the flowers to show more readily, cleans up the plant, and helps prevent diseases. Propagation is only by division as this is a sterile hybrid.
