Luma apiculata – Plant Profile and Landscaping Uses
A small evergreen shrub Luma apiculata is also known as the Chilean Myrtle.
With good glossy green foliage and a dense growth habit will reach around 5 – 10 m in height with a nice rounded crown. Creamy white flowers in summer this is a frost tolerant tree that does require a humus rich moist soil.
This is a plant that is versatile, it makes a good specimen tree, however it can also be easily pruned to make an excellent hedging plant.
Its landscaping uses centre around ease of pruning and the small foliage that assists in keeping it looking neat after being trimmed.
Best grown in full sun, although light shade will also be sufficient. A humus rich soil with some moisture will ensure good growth.
