Azara microphylla – The Box Leaf Araza
A small evergreen tree or shrub Azara microphylla is also known as the box leaf Araza. Originally from Chile and Argentina the foliage is small and glossy, the tree itself has a fairly upright habit and is suited to narrow spaces.
Covered with small fragrant yellow flowers in winter to spring followed by small red to brown fruits. A vanilla fragrance and grows well in full sun to part shade.
Care and Pruning
In a moist soil and light shade this is a tree that requires little care and only remedial pruning. Any damaged wood can be pruned back as needed.
A naturally attractive growth habit and very useful in any damp,shady position.
