Viburnum Suspensum – Plants and Hedges
Viburnum Suspensum (sandanqua viburnum) is an attractive evergreen shrub with glossy, leathery oval leaves with a slight serration. V. Suspensum will reach 2-3m in height. Drooping clusters (panicles) of tubular waxy fragrant white, rose tinted flowers in late winter to spring. A hardy shrub once established this Viburnum grows well in a range of conditions.
Space at 1.5m centres for a hedge. Plants are available as tubestock or advanced plants for a more instant hedge or screen.
V. suspensum prefers a humus rich moist but well drained soil and does well in part shade. Easy to prune to keep in shape, cut back in spring to maintain appearance.
Can be used at the back of the border or as a hedging plant or a screening plant.
This is regarded as one of the best Viburnums for use as a hedging plant in warmer climates. Frost hardy and easy to prune.
