With showy pink flowers, Pieris japonica Christmas Cheer has been a favourite with gardeners for many years
Deep green glossy foliage and masses of pink flowers often held erect make a great show in the garden during late winter to spring.
Being a naturally compact and dense growing variety, new foliage has a strong pinkish tinge to it before turning to the deep green which acts as a great contrast to the flowers
Being a good compact grower, this variety is also suited to growing on containers.
Pieris japonica Christmas Cheer Care
When planting, dig in some well rotted compost and aged cow manure a few weeks before you plant. Carefully remove the plant from the container and plant at the same level that it was in the pot.
Water Pieris Christmas Cheer in well with a liquid seaweed fertiliser. Mulch to maintain a cool moist root run.
Fertilise with an Azalea and Camellia fertiliser in late spring, watering well both before and after fertilising.
