A wonderful improved form, Luculia pinceana ‘Pink Spice’ flowers in winter with masses of fragrant pink flowers. Attractive large deep green foliage on this evergreen shrub to small tree.
The fragrance in winter is a great addition, large flowers are very attractive and the foliage is perhaps the best of any of the Luculias.

How To Grow Luculia Pink Spice
Luculia pinceana Pink Spice will grow well in a humus rich soil. Part shade to full sun with some protection from the hot afternoon sun and hot dry winds.
General care and growing guidelines
- Soil:
Luculia pinceana requires a humus rich well drained soil. A neutral to slightly acid pH is best. Dig in extra compost, leaf mold and some aged cow manure before planting. - Light:
Being an understory plant, Luculia prefer partial shade to full sun in cooler zones. . Morning sun with filtered light or dappled shade in the afternoon is ideal. The hotter the climate the more shade is the rule. - Watering:
A moist well drained soil is best. Wet soggy soils are not suitable. Depending on climate and rainfall, little extra water will be needed in winter and occasional deep watering during long dry summer spells. - Pruning:
The best time to prune is after flowering, and it is best to keep the plant small and bushy. If left to its own devices Luculia pinceana can become leggy.
Prune to size and shape as well as removing any dead or damaged wood. - Fertilizer:
Use a general purpose slow release fertiliser at recommend application rate in late winter to spring.
Top Tips:
- We recommend mulching around the base of the plant each spring after fertilising to suppress weeds and retain soil moisture.
- Plant Luculia in a position protected strong winds, especially hot drying winds.
