Cyrilla racemiflora
An evergreen shrub grown for the flowers white flowers in summer and autumn foliage. Cyrilla racemiflora is the only plant in the genus. Foliage is aromatic and the clusters of white flowers are attractive in spring to summer.
Flowers form in racemes, white and drooping downwards. Followed by seed pods which last long into winter as an added attraction.
Although not really deciduous in cooler climate the foliage does turn a nice red in winter to fall in spring just as the new foliage is emerging, it warmer to sub tropical areas it is truly evergreen.
Care
Also known as the Swamp Leatherwood, or simply Leatherwood, Cyrilla racemiflora requires moist but well drained soil to thrive.
