Aeonium ‘Short Black

With outer foliage that turns to almost black, Aeonium ‘Short Black’ lives up to it name. It will still reach around 50 – 50 cm in height with a similar spread and the colour is intensified in full sun,

Like most Aeonium arboreum varieties, the foliage is spoon shaped and appears in neat rosettes.

The inner foliage shows green and maroon, and changes to the deepest colour in the outer foliage.

This is an evergreen plant that flowers with terminal clusters of yellow flowers similar to others in the genus.

Aeonium ‘Short Black’ Care

This is a plant that will grow well in containers and pots and will also perform well in the garden.

It requires good drainage, is drought tolerant once established and is shorter growing than many other A. arboreum varieties.

  • Position – Full sun to a little shade.
  • Soil – Well drained.
  • Watering – Avoid watering in the cooler winter months.
  • Fertiliser – Very little fertiliser is required in good quality potting mix.
