Aeonium ‘Emerald Ice’ is a very attractive rosette forming succulent with vibrant green leaves edged with a creamy white. The leaves are small compared to many Aeoniums and have fine hairs.
Over time it will put out offsets and forms an interesting rounded clump. The green an white leaves vowing an intricate pattern with individual rosettes reaching to around 25cm in diameter.
It is believed to be a naturally occurring mutation or ‘sport’ of Aeonium ‘Party Platter’ which in turn is believed to be a Aeonium pseudotabulaforme x arboreum hybrid.
Care and Growing Conditions
Aeonium ‘Emerald Ice’ is best grown in a well drained soil, like many Aeoniums this is a variety that does not like a combination of very hot sun and dry soil, so a position in part shade works well.
Because of the small leaves and the tiny hairs it can collect water in the rosette. It is best watered from below to prevent crown rot and is also best grown with a topping over the soil, such as decomposed granite or pumice to improve airflow around the tightly packed leaves.
Fertilise once a year with a general purpose cactus and succulent potting mix.
