The theory is that as the Moon influences the tides it also influences the sap content in plants.
So the four different phases of the moon New Moon, First Quarter, Full Moon and Last Quarter are suited to different gardening activities.
Briefly explained
- Leaf and fruit crops, plants that produce their crops above the ground are planted during the phase of a waxing moon.
- Root crops, or plants that produce their crop below the ground are planted during a waning moon.
