Metal Garden screens are a decorative addition to the garden or patio. They can also be used features in the garden, or as privacy screens. They are one of the newest garden screen systems are actually based on centuries old designs and traditions using modern metals as a long lasting outdoor material.
Corten steel, aluminium and stainless steel can all be cut to patterns that are modern or based on architectural designs from cultures around the world. Screens can also be made of galvanized material or powder coated steel.
Laser cutting of metal screens means that intricate patterns can be precisely cut to any design, hand cut designs of course are available, but these will not be at the same price level as machine cut designs.
Screens may simply be decorative or they may be functional in providing barriers or fencing including use as a pool fence. Installation can be simple with posts set into the ground and scenes attached, or perhaps used as a wall screen with lighting to make a feature of a plain area. Where else an use a metal screen in the garden ? As a gate, as a balustrade on a terrace or to create a garden room.
Using Metal Garden Screens
Screens in the garden are an excellent way of providing privacy as well as becoming a feature and metal screens are now being made of long lasting corten steel (COR – TEN). So why corten steel for a garden screen, it is a steel that weathers to a nice natural rusted look, but does not disintegrate and does not need to be painted, sounds like an excellent choice for outdoor use.
These steel screens or ‘panels’ can be purchased pre made in set designs or can be laser cut to order in an almost endless number of patterns (a more expensive option).
Excellent as decorative screens, or when used to ‘break up’ a garden, or sight line these screening panels can also be used to provide privacy for ‘al fresco’ living areas, pools or play areas. Consider using metal screens to break up fencing lines.
Lighting effects can be added by lighting individual screens from the front or rear using low voltage garden lighting. Mounting is usually on posts although it is possible to use the screens against an existing fence or wall if required. Smaller corten steel screens can be wall mounted as an adjunct to a water feature if required.
