Cornus florida 'Rubra' - Oink Flowering Dogwood
Cornus florida ‘Rubra’

A brilliant small ornamental tree, Cornus florida ‘Rubra’ is commonly called the “Pink Flowering Dogwood”.

Regarded as one of the best of the smaller spring flowering trees, it makes an excellent specimen tree and is well suited to smaller gardens. This is one of a number of Cornus varieties that make good garden trees.

The flowers open as a deep pink and fade to an attractive paler pink as they mature.

An added feature is the autumn/fall colour, the foliage turns a brilliant red and adds a great touch to the garden as winter comes around.

Growing and Care

Best planted in a sunny position in a well drained soil. This is a tree that is well suited to cooler climates, in warmer areas some afternoon shade may be beneficial.
