Windmill Palm care
This is a cold tolerant palm tree and will grow well in cooler climates as far south and Melbourne and Hobart.
Suited to growing in full sun to part shade it does perform better in areas that are protected from cold winds. Growth rate is moderate, putting on up to .4m of trunk a year in its early stages in very good conditions.
This is a palm tree that can be grown in a container for a number of years before outgrowing the available space and needing to be planted out.
A humid position is best and a well drained but moist soil, especially during summer months. Over watering should be avoided as this causes foliage to brown off.
Windmill Palm growth rate is slow to moderate trees reaching maturity in 8-12 years (10m approx)
