Wholesale leptospermum

Everyone knows Leptospermums it is just that are commonly called Tea Tree. Wholesale Leptospermum are available in a number of species, many with excellent landscaping applications.

In the natural habitat they do not always show their best characteristics as they tend to crowded. So give this versatile group of plants a chance and you may well be surprised by they attractive nature and versatility. Being drought tolerant and easy care, the genus in general is under represented in modern landscaping schemes.

With over 50 species a number are widely used in landscaping, and hybrids, as well improved flowering forms are also available from growers in Australia.

Leptospermum varieties

  • L. scoparium – Also known as Manuka is native to New Zealand and is commonly called tea tree. Brilliant red flowers, and sometimes white to pink make it attractive to bees, hence ‘Manuka Honey’. Can be pruned to a standard. Sometimes called the ‘Pink Tea Tree’.
  • L. madidum or ‘Weeping Tea Tree’ is widely grown in parks as well as a small street tree.
  • L. polygalifolium – Rounded slightly pendulous form with white flowers.
  • L. lanigerym – Also known as the ‘Woolly Tea Tree’, upright habit.
  • L. laevigatum – A tough plant also known as the ‘Coastal Tea Tree’, twisted trunks, lower growing in wind prone areas. Small white flowers from spring to summer.
  • L. petersonii has lemon scented foliage, excellent in a sensory garden.
