WHOLESALE GUAVA NURSERIES
From South America, Guava plants are a small to medium sized tree with a number of varieties being grown for the fruit. These are Psidium species and are grown both for the fruit and the foliage depending on the species.
A small tropical fruiting tree, Guava Trees a produce a small sweet fragrant fruit used widely for juice as well as eating and in jellies. Evergreen and reaching around 3m in height depending on variety all varieties grow well in full sun and will tolerate light shade in warmer climates. Most varieties can be successfully grown in all areas of Australia excepting the colder elevated areas and those areas that are subject to extended very dry periods.
All varieties may require supplementary water during long dry periods. Being small trees they are suited to growing in containers if required. Attractive foliage and small white flowers are landscaping features.
A number of cultivars are available with differing fruit color. The ‘Thai White’ is popular in warmer climates, although it will tolerate very light frosts. The ‘Cherry Yellow’ is smaller fruiting and also popular.
