WHAT IS GREY WATER?
Greywater is water from washing, washing machines, showers etc. Greywater is NOT water from toilets. Grey water comprises approximatly 50-80% of residential "waste" water. Greywater may often be used home garden irrigation.
In many areas domestic greywater can be recycled directly within the home and garden, check with your local councils for regulations.

Grey water systems can save up to 150,000 litres of water a year by using waste water to replace fresh water usage in the garden. It is recommended to replace high phosphate washing powders and liquids with low or no phosphate powders and liquids such as ECO WASH available from SAGE HORTICULTURAL

Grey Water systems include both diversion systems and treatment systems. However, which ever system you decide to install you will need to change a few habits. Detergents in general have a lot of salts (sodium) in them and this is not good for plants, or in the long term soil structure.

Choose detergents, shampoos and soaps that are low in salts, and be careful about what you put down the sink ( and therefore into the grey water system )
