Fox Glove Plant Profile, Description, Care and Growing Notes

Foxglove Plants are a tall growing clump forming perennial best suited to the garden border. Best grown in a humus rich soil with some shade in the afternoon to protect from hot sun. Fertilize with blood and bone or a seaweed fertilizer in early spring. Foxglove plants can be divided in late winter just as new growth commences. Foxglove seeds can be planted into seedling trays in late winter to early autumn.

Seeds need to be planted close to the surface as they require light to germinate. So sprinkle seeds on the surface and gently press into firm contact with the soil. Water in with a fine spray of water and keep moist. Seedlings can be planted out once established. Alternatively seeds can be sown direct to the soil.

Foxgloves are a very popular plant in cottage gardens and also do well in the perennial border. Good drainage is important to prevent rot.
