Actaea simplex Plant Profile and Growing Hints

Actaea simplex or Bugbane is a Herbaceous perennial originally from Mongolia and Russia. With its rather dramatic bottlebrush-like, pale pink to white flowers in March and April over brownish-purple leaves. Useful at the back of a perennial border coming to prominence when many flowers have finished. Loves a damp shady position. Spent flowerheads can provide an interesting feature in winter.
