Possums and cats can be a real problem in the garden, brush tailed possums are notorious for eating rose buds, and cats can tend to dig over new plantings. Possum Deterrents
Possums in roof spaces are a real problem. Start by closing off all access, this should solve the problem. However this is not always possible. A bright light turned on during the day is said to help (installed by an electrician) garlic or naphthalene are supposed to deter possums, or try a proprietary possum deterrent.

Chemical Cat and Possum Deterrents

 Chemical deterrents are designed to either produce an odor or smell that deters the cat or possum, or in the case of possums, produce a bitter taste that encourages them to look elsewhere for food.

Electronic Cat, Possum and Dog Deterrents

 These devices such as 'CatWatch' emit ultrasonic sounds audible not audible to the human ear. Electronic fences are also available for confining dogs, these work with a device fitted to the collar.

Fencing and Barrier Deterrents

 Fencing works for dogs, for Possums and Cats, netting can work, use shade cloth however as with bird netting the risk of entanglement makes this problematic. Barriers such as floppy wire can be successful.
